March Madness is just around the corner and Vegas is preparing as usual. Two years ago I hit the Uconn Huskies in late February and won a hefty payout. Last year I fell short with Louisville at 40-1 odds. I’m taking a different approach to this tournament.
With zero clear cut teams, it’s going to be a tourney full of surprises. Why not root for teams to reach the sweet sixteen, elite eight, or final four? Each team that makes the tournament gets odds on reaching a certain round.
Look for your team on Wynn’s updated odds sheet. I will have a column out shortly before conference tournaments. Below I have starred three teams that I like to reach the sweet sixteen that should have favorable odds. Syracuse I like to reach the elite eight, and currently I like Michigan State to win the tournament. Izzo is a tournament coach, that has the talent to complement his coaching this year.

Arizona State is getting quite a few points traveling on the road to UCLA. In their previous matchup the Sun Devils had full control of the game on their home court. It was the game Evan Gordon broke out of his shooting slump, and also the last game Herb Sendek kept a minimal rotation. He has sicne reached to the bench more and expanded his use of other players. UCLA just does not have an identity. If Carrick Felix can stay focused and limit Shabazz Muhammed like he did in the first matchup, ASU should have no problem covering eight points.
The other play today is to root for points in the NBA. Take the over in Houston/Milwaukee of 219. Houston should produce one of those games where they eclipse 120-125 points.

Yesterday was a 2-0 day and today hopes to be the same. In college basketball I like the over of 133 between Xavier/Memphis. Both teams are in the top forty for field goal percentage, and are athletic at all main positions on the floor.
The other play is the under on the Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors of 197. Golden State came from behind against Minnesota the other night thanks to the hot hand of Jarret Jack. Expect Indiana to dictate the pace and control this game from being up tempo. I like the end result to be in the low to mid nineties and under.

Mondays are tough coming out of the weekend due to the reduction of games in the NBA and college basketball. That does not mean you can not find solid games on the board to play. Todays games to jump on are the Denver Nuggets and the over on Villanova/Seton Hall.
Villanova has started to get some balance offensively, and should be around a ten or eleven seed in March. Freshman point guard Ryan Arcidiacono has developed nicely since the beginning of the season. He has become a dependable three point shooter along with James Bell. Seton Hall will put up a tougher fight than expected, and the over 130 should surpass by seven to twelve points.
Denver should pull away from the Lakers in the second half. A line of six is a favorable indicator that Vegas likes the Nuggets quite a bit. Kobe Bryant has carried the Lakers Friday and Sunday night with tremendous outputs. Heading into a back to back game in Denver doesnt bode well.
